Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 different times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

Yet, Marseille struck two times late to take a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the final moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
